Updated March 15, 2020

Due to the local, national and worldwide concerns over the rapid spreading of COVID-19, (Coronavirus), Artemis will be suspending all services for the next 2 weeks. After much discussion, research, and taking into account recommendations from the CDC and many local health-care providers we have decided this to be the most appropriate course of action at this time, for the safety of our patients, staff and to curb the demand on public health resources. The staff at Artemis value our patients and their trust in the service we provide. We feel continuing to treat patients in the face of COVID-19 would put our patients and our local community at undue risk and because Artemis provides elective services, postponing care for two weeks is an option we can exercise. Our current plan is to re-open our office on Monday, March 30, 2020. During the next 2 weeks we will continue to monitor the rapidly changing situation and Dr.  Pinsinski will be available for any questions or concerns you may have regarding your care.  Our staff has the ability to work in an administrative capacity remotely.  Scheduling, billing and phone services will be available during our closure.  We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience however with this type of action, we feel decreasing the spread of this contagion is of paramount importance.  If you have appointments scheduled in the next 2 weeks, our staff will contacting you over the next 2 days to reschedule.  Thank you for your understanding during this tumultuous time.

A few notes about COVID-19:

Coronavirus, (COVID-19), is the same virus that causes the common
cold however this is a new strain.

At this time, the total number of people infected is unknown
and therefore it is difficult to ascertain mortality, morbidity, transmission
rates and transmission methods.

It is CRUCIAL that we remain calm. The vast majority of cases exhibit mild symptoms and many have none. It is only a very small percentage of people that are severely affected, these are typically the elderly and immunocompromised.

Symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • Fever – Which is defined as temperature greater than 100.4 F
  • Shortness of breath
  • Dry nonproductive cough

If you experience these symptoms, it is VITAL you first confine yourself to your house and minimize your exposure to other people. Call your primary care provider to discuss whether testing is necessary.

Test kits are currently being manufactured. This takes time. Once a larger number of the population has been tested, more accurate information can be given to the public.

Please remember, if you test positive for coronavirus, the treatment is the same for any viral infection: rest, limit exposure to people, drink plenty of fluids, use Ibuprofen and Acetaminophen to control the fever and WASH YOUR HANDS to prevent exposing others. With time, your immune system will do the rest.

We encourage all of you to get your information from www.cdc.gov or your local primary care provider. Please try to avoid main stream media and social media outlets as these sources tend to cause more speculation and panic rather than providing facts.

There are thousands of people across the world with the most brilliant minds working on this problem. We will solve this problem however we must do this together. I implore you if you have symptoms, please quarantine yourself and call your local health care provider.

Stay Safe, Stay Aware, Stay Healthy!

Cordially,

David L. Pinsinski, MD, RPhs and the Artemis Team:  Trent, Gene, Lisa, Hailey and Stacy
